Lake Cooper 3D Machine Guidance and Drill rig Hole Navigation System implementation

Mawsons Lake Cooper quarry management had the task of bringing together two quarrying areas that had different bench levels.

Working with our engineering team, a plan was created to progressively bring the pit together, however given the complexity of controlling this using conventional survey methods, a decision was made to fit a machine guidance system to the Komatsu WA600 face loader and TIM3D Hole Navigation System to the sites Sandvik drill rig.

Using a combination of these two high precision technologies, the two ends of the pit are coming together precisely and the site has experienced a significant reduction in operating cost per tonne due to greater control over drill and blast and excavation.
